Michael Jean* grew up outside of Detroit, Michigan unsure of where he would end up in life. Through some hard lessons and guidance, he managed to graduate from law school, pass the bar, and move his way up within the National Rifle Association “NRA”. Michael talks about his involvement in NY Pistol v. Bruen, his constitutional philosophies, and the Second Amendment.

Bio: Michael Jean is the Director of the Office of Litigation Counsel at the National Rifle Association of America – Institute for Legislative Action. He is responsible for advancing NRA members’ interests through litigation and advocacy. He has brought numerous suits vindicating NRA members’ constitutional rights in state and federal courts across the country. He has also successfully challenged and intervened to defend federal hunting regulations. And he serves as a liaison between the NRA and several other hunting and wildlife-management organizations. He received Bachelors of Arts degrees in Criminal Justice and American Public Policy from Western Michigan University. He went on to law school at the Western Michigan University – Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He was also a guest law student at: the Monash University Law Faculty, in Melbourne, Australia; the University of Canterbury School of Law, in Christchurch, New Zealand; the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Canada; and the University of San Diego’s Paris Institute on International and Comparative Law in Paris, France. He clerked for the Criminal Division of the 3rd Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan, in Detroit, and finished law school as a litigation intern at Safari Club International, in Washington, DC.
